In 2012, the Olympics games will be held in London. It is the 3rd time London have hosted the Summer Olympics with the previous two occasions being in 1908 and 1948.
The 3oth Olympic games were awarded to London ahead of bids from Paris, Madrid, New York and Moscow. The opening ceremony will take place at the new Olympic Stadium in Stratford on 27th July 2012. Over 18,000 athletes from over 200 nations will compete in the games and which will finish on 12th August 2012.
